The Materyk shopping mall is a new shopping center in Kyiv. It was opened on 6 October. The total area of the complex is 17,000 sq. m. Despite of absence of a big advertising campaign the Materyk has already managed to appeal lots of capital fans of shopping. Wide range of qualitative goods of foreign and native trademarks is represented in the ShC. It is intended for buyers of both medium and high level of income. Basic groups of goods are: men, women and children clothes, footwear and accessories, household appliances. I consider it worse of mentioning that the first and only shop of the Apple trademark (single supplier of iPod players around the world) in Ukraine is situated in the Materyk shopping center. The location of the Materyk is rather successful and advantageous. It is advantageous because of a good transport interchange, which is basic in the district. Borshchagivska street is situated near Industrialnyy viaduct. The only disadvantage is that it is situated far from the underground. The nearest underground station Shuliavska is situated in 10 minutes of going by public transport. Minibus taxis running between the underground station and ShC would be advisable, but the developers has not arranged it. The building itself amazes with its immensity. Broad passages, large paces, plenty of stairs and service premises constitute advantages of the Materyk compared to other shopping centers where shops are situated compactly and close to each other. There are 3 floors in the shopping center, but the third one can not be considered as a full floor. There are four shops in it with area of 200m2. Every shop has a separate entrance by stairs from the second floor. There is a lift in the building as well. The car park deserves for special emphasis. The territory around the building is rather small taking into account the scale of the project, that is why the designers found an alternative solution – a two-leveled ground-based car park. The lower level is intended for 150 cars. And together with the second level its capacity doubles. There is a separate entrance into the building from the higher level of the car park across a special small bridge. Public catering facilities occupy the most part of the second floor of the Materyk. The 12 stiltsiv restaurant, the Slovyanskyy Dvir self-service restaurant and the Bavarskyy Dvir bar are situated here. Every of the restaurants do not have its separate entrance, one premise slips into another. On the large area about 300 tables are situated, they are intended for more than 1000 visitors. In the Slovyanskyy Dvir restaurant system of self-service functions, all dishes are in the hall and a visitor can chose and take a dish he or she likes. Payments are fulfilled at the cash desk. In the 12 stiltsiv and the Bavarskyy Dvir different system functions. The service staffs provide delivery of a dish and settle payments with clients. There is not division for smoking and non-smoking halls, smoking is forbidden. The idea of arrangement of playground in the second floor is interesting. Children have fun in seesaws and slides, and their parents can peacefully go shopping. You can keep watch over children from the restaurants; the playground is perfectly seen from any of them. Despite of short time of operating the Materyk is quite visited. Mainly due to the Rainford supermarket, which is beyond comparison in the micro district. Plenty of buyers visit the shopping center at weekends. Thus the Materyk shopping mall is able to meet needs of the most fastidious buyer and with time it will be a competitor for many popular shopping centers.
